30 DAYS OF YOGA

2016 01 Lululemon yoga Hyde Park

I challenged myself to 30 days of yoga to start 2016; a yoga class per day for thirty consecutive days. Today is day 40 and I’m still going.

Resolutions don’t work for me, so instead I like to set personal goals for the year ahead. The most memorable were travel-related and resulted in ticking a few places off my list. One year I vowed to make homemade ice cream, that was a good one.

This year I wanted to continue the positive momentum of 2015 and focus on health, hence the challenge to practice yoga every day for a month. And to learn how to do wheel pose.

I’ve mixed it up. Vinyasa, ashtanga, yin, power, Hatha, antigravity, even hip hop yoga. Sometimes I practice early in the morning and others in the evening, depending on my schedule. The variety keeps me interested, although in all honesty I look forward to my class each day.

I am slowly starting to notice subtle physical changes, I’m feeling stronger and walking taller. I’ve got a way to go until I can take that ‘backbend over a sunset on the beach’ photo but I’m looking forward to continuing the journey.
